FAQ
The following domains are supported by this server:
- https://mnf.openedx.uzh.ch (Faculty of Science, UZH)
- https://phil.openedx.uzh.ch (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, UZH)
- https://hslu.openedx.uzh.ch (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts)
- https://unili.openedx.uzh.ch (University of Liechtenstein)
To register or to log in with your AAI account use the following page: https://openedx.uzh.ch/login
There are two different ways to register and to authenticate in Open edX:
- with an Open edX account (e-mail and your own password)
- with your shortname and AAI password
The first authentication option allows you to log in on any page.
Authentication with AAI requires, that you always log in on page

by clicking the button of your University.

Open https://openedx.uzh.ch/login
- Click the button of your University
- You will be redirected to the authentication page of your university:
- Login with your shortname (webpass) and the corresponding password
- After successful authentication you will be redirected to the registration form
(personal data known to the Identity Provider (AAI) will be used to prefill the form fields):
Please note that the field "Public Username" contains a unique identifier.
You must replace it with your own unique identifier (e.g. shortname).
It will appear in discussions you participate instead of your name.
Fields marked with an asterisk must be filled in.
The "Terms of Service" and the "Honor Code" must also be read and checked for confirmation.
By clicking on "Create My University of ..." your personal account will be created on the Open edX server of the UZH. - A confirmation will then be displayed.
The top right of the page indicates that you are logged in with your account (username=pmuster).
However, before you can register for a course, you must click on the confirmation link in the email you received.
- If you also want to log in with your e-mail address, you can assign a password to your e-mail that is independent of the AAI password.
Click on the arrow at the top right of your username and select "Account" from the list:
- Click on "Reset Your Password" in the account properties.
- You will then receive an email with a link to reset your password.

Open https://openedx.uzh.ch/login
- Click the button of your University
- You will be redirected to the authentication page of your university:
- Login with your shortname (webpass) and the corresponding password
- Open page https://openedx.uzh.ch/register
- Fill in all required information (asterisk) and read the "Terms of Service" and "Honor Code"
Note that your public name cannot be changed afterwards:
- Click on "Create My University of Zurich Account"
- The following confirmation will then be displayed.
The top right of the page indicates that you are logged in with your account (username=pmuster).
However, before you can register for a course, you must click on the confirmation link in the email you received.
- If you also want to log in with your Webpass (short name in AAI), you can assign an AAI account to your email.
- Click on the arrow at the top right of your username and select "Account" from the list:

Select the tab "Linked Accounts":
Click on "Link your Account" of the university with which you want to link your account (you can add more than one).
You will then be redirected to the authentication page of your university.
After successful authentication you will be able to login with your university's shortname/password as well as with the e-mail and your previously defined password.
- You can register on any page where the "Sign in" logo appears at the top right:
- Fill in your e-mail address and the password you defined earlier.
- Open page https://openedx.uzh.ch/login
and click "Forgot password?"
and click "Forgot password?":
- Fill in your e-mail address and press "Reset My Password"
You will recive an e-mail with a link to reset your password
- After your registration or login you will be redirected to your personal dashboard.
Here you can see the courses you have already taken.
If you don't see any courses (you have not yet taken a course), please click on "Explore Courses" to see all published courses:
